A system you can literally trace with your eyes

An optical bench is a compact lesson in interfaces. Every mount, surface, lens, mirror, detector, aperture, and path length changes what reaches the next stage. Small alignment errors become system-level errors; measurement is part of assembly rather than an afterthought.

Light became infrastructure

Laser and fiber-optic developments eventually became core communications infrastructure. AT&T’s historical account notes early-1970s Bell Labs work combining room-temperature lasers with low-loss glass fiber, illustrating how a physical-science breakthrough can become a civilization-scale network layer.

FOUNDER LENS // EDITORIAL

Optics is beautiful because the system is unforgiving in productive ways. You cannot negotiate with alignment or loss. You measure, correct, and understand the path. Good software architecture should aspire to that degree of traceability.
